Writing ecology: Find your niche and avoid culture shock?

Being between a rock and a hard place is a lot like facing a blank computer screen and having a deadline to meet. Whatever scientific activity we're doing each day, there's writing to be done. I'd suggest that the type of document is likely to vary much less than where the desk you sit at happens to be.
